TRUSTING IN GOD’S PROMISES
God didn’t promise us everything would be fair, that we’d have perfect health, no sorrow, be rich, no accidents or tragedies, nor did He promise no loss. In fact, when sin entered the world, so did all these things. We are actually told these will happen. Ps 34:19 states many afflictions and Eccl 9:11 says time and chance happen to all of us. However, God did make promises we can cling to. Actually we are told in 2 Peter 1:4 that His promises are exceedingly great and precious and in Ephesians 3:20 we’re told He does exceedingly abundantly. Therefore, it is up to us to trust in His promises. Ps 34:19 not only tells us we will have many afflictions, but that the Lord will deliver us out of them and in Ps 50:15 He will deliver us out of trouble times. Heb 13 confirms again He will never leave us. We all know the song, “Does Jesus Care?” The chorus says, “Oh yes He cares, I know He cares” and these promises are just proof. Jesus wept with Mary and Martha because they were heartbroken that their brother Lazarus had died, even knowing He was going to resurrect him. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says He comforts us, that’s a promise. 1 John 5:14 reminds us that He hears our prayers. James 5:16 tells us the effective fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much, so don’t hesitate to pray, He’s promised to hear every one of them. Matt 6:25-34 guarantees us that He will take care of us. We don’t have to worry about them if we seek Him. Phil 4:19 says God supplies all of our needs. God has got it, y’all! Mark 10:29-30 enlightens us on the promise of family in Christ and eternal life. How blessed we are to have a common bond that we understand, especially for those members that weren’t raised up in this family, their own family may still not get the underlying trust and dependability we have on one another. God’s family is a special blessing promised to us. We are also promised discipline in Hebrews 12:5-11, but it’s because it is for our own good and it yields peaceable fruit of righteousness. John 10:27-29 promises eternal life and that God knows us. 1 John 2:24-25 also talks about salvation IF we abide in Him. Romans 8:28 says He causes all things to work for good. This is sometimes hard for us to understand, because we just see bad things and don’t see how or what good comes from it, but God has promised it. It may take a struggle, a loss of a family member, an accident, a trial, etc for God’s good to come from it. And His good may not come immediately, but remember, it’s in His time. Only in His timing will you be able to see the good that comes from every situation. The last promise I’ll mention is the one that only we can break. Romans 8:35-39 tells us nothing can separate us from God’s love. Even in times we are ready to throw in the towel and we are thinking “I can’t deal with one more thing,” “if I hear one more piece of bad news I’m going to break.” The only thing that can separate us from Him is ourselves, if we walk away from Him. It’s up to us!
Promise after promise after promise. Every time you read His word a promise is there. And the best promise of them all is God cannot lie; therefore, all these things He has promised will be true. All His prophecies and promises have been revealed as truth. God ALWAYS keeps His promises. Just look at them. When you are down, read His promises. When things are going great, remember God’s promises. His promises can be seen EVERYDAY! It is so sweet to trust in Jesus because of these promises. Take some time to find more. These listed are just the beginning of all the ones we can read of.
