SPIRITUAL RESUME
In a recent lesson Paul was mentioned with a list of all the perils he endured and it got me thinking about that being his “spiritual resume.” A normal resume one submits with an application for a job explains one’s skillset, education, and work experience. But what if you had to do one for your spiritual life? What would it say? Would you have a list of skills and things you’ve endured that strengthened your faith? Would you be able to say you are a teacher of the Word? Could you write a summary about yourself and be able to say you are now a Christian with a purpose to proclaim Christ as Savior?
Paul’s letters reveal a man of keen intellect, sensitive nature, infectious spirit, immense vitality, strong determination, and a vast capacity for friendship. What would your life reveal? Paul, being born in Judaism, would’ve been immersed in the Judaism doctrine and traditions starting at a very young age as part of his education. At just 13 years old, the Jewish boys would became a “bar mitzvah,” meaning he had full obligation of the law and some would go through rabbinic schools. So it is said to be around this time that Paul went to Jerusalem to further his training, which would have been under Gamaliel I (one of the best rabbis of the first century) (Acts 22:3). Galatians 1:14 also tells us he excelled over contemporaries because he was so zealous, some due to his fathers traditions. Paul’s resume is full of Kingdom work, is ours?
