Daughters play a major role in the scriptures. Have you ever taken the time to do a study on them? We are all children of God, making this lesson applicable to all, even if you aren’t a daughter of Christ.
Eve (Gen 1-4)
First woman, mother of all, beautifully created from Adam’s rib, but also the first person to fall by deception. It’s evident God redeems our mistakes for His glory and the enemy will try to convince us otherwise.
Hagar (Gen 16-21)
Servant of Abraham and Sarah, foreigner, a women in distress. God saw her in her messy situation, showing us God sees us and responds to broken people. He is faithful to provide in the wilderness of times for His children.
Sarah (Gen 12-25)
The mother of the nation of Israel, wife of Abraham. She struggled with infertility, which caused her to distrust God’s plan and timing. However, we can learn that God’s promises will NOT fail; they will come to pass in HIS timing.
Rebekah (Gen 23-28)
We met this woman when she was willing to drink water from a stranger. When invited to marry an unknown man (Isaac), she accepted knowing it was from the Lord. Because of her obedience, she played a role in the plan for the nation of Israel. We can learn that imperfect people have a place in God’s plan.
Rachel (Gen 29-35)
She is known for her beauty and we saw how Jacob labored to win her over. We can see that God knows our feelings. He knew Rachel felt alone and forgotten, while she waited for Jacob. But God is faithful and remembers you.
Leah (Gen 29-35)
Based on the time period and that she was the older sister of Rachel, still not married, you can only imagine what she struggled with and felt. however, we can learn that the Lord doesn’t call us unwanted; even if we are rejected on earth, because we are His beloved kids and have a purpose in His plan.
Deborah (Judges 4-5)
As a wife, prophetess, and judge, she was a women of honor and courage. Completing her roles with faithfulness to the Lord, she lead the nation in battle and their hearts back to the Lord. From her example, we can see how stepping bravely with faith into what God has called for you will result in God’s glory.
Ruth (Ruth 1-4)
A widow in turbulent times, refused to leave her mother-in-law. She was blessed with a noble man, which shows us God redeems what has been lost. God provided protection, family, and redemption in a tragedy stricken family. We can see the blessings that flow from faithfulness and obedience to Christ.
Esther (Esther 1-10)
A young orphan Jewish girl who became a queen in order to deliver her people from oppression. She stepped in with courage and bravery to reveal Haman’s plot, which saved her people. God was working behind the scenes to bring His plan to fruition. If we are willing to step into His divine plan, we’ll be used un ways to fulfill His purpose.
