The Need in Talking About Jesus to Others

6-25-23 Willisburg Bulletin

We all know that part of us that shys away from talking to other about the gospel. Why do we do that? We try to make excuses, but honestly, we don’t fear Hell enough. We want to think we do, but if we did, we’d be spreading the gospel to everyone! We must be courageous to obey God’s command to seek and save the lost, even if it means standing alone while doing it.

Satan’s out to get us

If we aren’t trying to save others, we know who is… the devil. Except he isn’t saving them from sin, he is deceiving people into thinking that, yet he is actually dragging them right into sin. He is roaming around as a lion, preying people, because he loves people rebelling against God (1 Peter 5:8). That verse talks about wanting to devour someone. How much more gruesome can you get? The definition is to eat angry and quickly, destroy completely, eagerly attack. Satan is no joke. He causes us to doubt, making us question God’s word and righteousness. He causes us discouragement, making us look at our problems without hope rather than turning to God for help. He causes us defeat, making us feel like a failure, that we are never good enough, so we don’t even try to find God. He also causes us to delay, making us put off doing what we need toso it never gets done.

Why Talk About Jesus?

It’s crucial for us to be looking for opportunities to save the dying. Jesus came to do just that (Luke 19:10). Everyone has a destiny when this life is over; heaven and hell are real. If we aren’t helping to save, we are aiding people’s spiritual death. It sounds harsh, but if you aren’t helping, you are hurting. Everyone of our family, friends, neighbors, and even people we don’t know will be going to one of the two places for eternity someday. Jesus is the ONLY way to make it through Heaven’s gate (John 14:6). True love is one that will lay down his life to save a man (John 15:13). Do you want to see the ones you love in hell? If you truly love your family, friends, neighbors, and everyone in the world, you will do anything to lead them to Christ to save their soul. Can you imagine saying you love someone so much you would die for them, yet not even mention Christ to them, to know that if they died after seeing you, they would go to Hell? It’s a terrible thought to cry too late, yet we still aren’t trying hard enough.

Step In Faith, Not Excuses

Everyone thinks they have an excuse, yet Christ has said, He commands everyone to repent and believe (Acts 17:30-31). Ignorance is not an excuse and just because no one else is doing it is not one either. You MUST step out in faith and trust God. We must be like Noah who didn’t wait for confirmation from others, because you won’t get it.You know people thought Noah was ridiculous, until it started raining. Then they will realize your efforts weren’t in vain. God has already said they aren’t (1 Cor 15:58). Imagine Noah not doing what God said, because no one else was doing it. So trust Him and start acting in faith to seek the lost.
