The Unexpected

3-26-23 Willisburg Bulletin

We all know, plans usually don’t go as planned. They get changed, things happen, it’s just life. Maybe you didn’t expect you’d have this job, live in this city, live in this house, have this many kids, lose someone so soon, be dealing with sickness, get this bill in the mail etc.

The list goes on and on. We all have things that we never expected.

So how do we deal with the unexpected?

DIFFERENT PERSEPECTIVE

We need to start viewing it through the gospels lenses and not our own.

We have biased views and thoughts.

We will face giants in our life (things we didn’t expect), but if we look at it the way God does and have a godly attitude about it, it will be a lot easier to cope with. Eph 2:1-6 tells us that we are made alive, live with Christ, are raised, and are seated with Christ where before we were dead, alienated, and children of wrath. Gods perspective should change ours! We need to look at the world and unexpected events from a heavenly & spiritual perspective.

VICTORIOUS perspective ]

GOD KNEW

We have to know God knew whatever you are experiencing was going to happen, so who better to lean on than the One who knew. He is there for comfort, healing, strength, or whatever you may need. Maybe just an ear to listen to you, He’s the best one. I promise. God sees you. He sees your hurt, your feelings, your confusion, your anger, and your fears. He sees it all. Even if you think no one sees you or understands you, He does. I promise.

Nothing escapes His divine attention.

GOD’S ETERNAL PLAN

Nothing stands against God’s will. His will will prevail no matter what! God’s plan is the one that will happen and our plans may not go just as we had hoped.

REJOICE IN THE LORD

When we are amongst the unexpected, we have to rejoice in the Lord, knowing that He knows best. These times are the ones that put our convictions to the test and will either crumble us or build us (Rom 5:3-4).

[Rejoice in the Lord]

YOU AREN’T ALONE

When we are going through things we didn’t expect, we act like we are the only ones and no one else understands, but how untrue that is. We need to remember first that God understands and secondly, there are those that have been through exactly what you are and there is help. God didn’t leave us on this earth by ourselves without guidance. Prayer is our way of talking to God, even though He already knows what we need. It provides us with the knowledge that we need Him.

[ we have help & we aren’t self sufficient ]
